Metalloid Corporation Acquires AccroLube

Sturgis, Michigan ~ Metalloid Corporation, metalworking fluids manufacturer, has acquired AccroLube from Accro-Seal Inc, Vicksburg, Michigan, manufacturers of High Temperature Polyurea grease with PTFE.

The acquisition of Accrolube fits into Metalloid Corporation strategy to better serve our current and expand our customer portfolio. By purchasing AccroLube, this product line will increase and diversify Metalloid’s already expansive metalworking fluids to also now include AccroLube. This will allow Metalloid Corporation to offer customers a specially formulated Polyurea grease with PTFE.

About AccroLube

Accrolube High Temperature Polyurea grease is a premium, high performance grease, designed for extending service life for industrial applications over a wide operating temperature range. This advanced, shear stable thickening system is designed to reduce oil separation at elevated temperatures. In addition, this thickening system does not contain any heavy metals that will act as a catalyst for oxidation. This will result in a longer life lubricant in the application and be friendly to the environment.

Accrolube High Temperature Polyurea grease is formulated with the right base oil viscosity to provide excellent film strength at elevated temperature. This will help protect parts from friction and wear. The product is formulated with highly refined mineral oil to help extend the life of the lubricant. To enhance the performance properties of the grease, lubricating solids, (PTFE) are added to the grease to help reduce the coefficient of friction in the application.

Applications- Automotive, Mold Release, Pneumatic Cylinders, Gears, Bearings, Jack Screws, Hydraulic & Industrial Equipment, Valves, and Marine Equipment.

METCOR 43 Testing

METCOR 43 is the perfect choice for all your long term storage element protection needs, it goes on quick without the need to be cleaned off prior to the assembly.

The steel parts (Rebar Connectors) were put into the humidity cabinet from FC Industries after being cleaned in solvent and coated with METCOR 43. They have now been in the humidity cabinet for 17 days with the water condensing on the parts following ASTM D2247, which is the “Standard Practice for Testing Water Resistance in 100% Relative Humidity”. One of the steel parts is starting to show a couple spots of rust around the top edge, but they are free of rust otherwise. The standard rough calculation that is used is 1 test hour is equivalent to 29.5 hours in the field, so if it was in the humidity cabinet for 17 days, which is 408 hours, it would be equivalent to 501 days or a little over 16 months of protection in the field with using the METCOR 43.

One of the items in short supply is “antibacterial soap.” According to the FDA (see link below) they inform us that antibacterial soaps are no more effective than washing with plain soap and hot water. In fact, according to the FDA, some of the ingredients in antibacterial soap used over a long period or frequently have a potential negative effect on health. Further, antibacterial soaps and hand sanitizer are NO SUBSTITUTE for thorough hand washing.

Metalloid’s Commitment to the Environment

As the long-term growth of the global economy has accelerated because of increasing manufacturing, the impact of disposable products, packaging, and production materials on the environment has become a significant and growing concern. Many manufacturing processes rely on lubricating oils that fulfill critical functions, such as lowering friction, reducing wear, cooling machine parts, preventing corrosion, and more. Although these lubricants are essential to equipment operation, they are traditionally made with base oils that have traditionally been refined from crude oil, which causes environmental damage when pumped from the ground or ocean, threatening the food supply when it spills into waterways (killing aquatic wildlife), and when it contaminates fertile soil used in agriculture. We have all been affected by many years of neglect and improper disposal, and it is the future generations who will be harmed the most if we continue down this path.

In many countries, laws that require the use of botanically-based oils, such as vegetable oils, as well as other bio-renewable materials, help prevent future damage. But in the United States and some other countries, use of these safer products is not mandated by law, but remains a choice. For financial gain, many choose to ignore the problem or do nothing about it. Others pretend the problem doesn’t exist.

Metalloid Corporation has not ignored the problem; rather, we’ve spent time and money researching and testing manufacturing fluids that are safer for both the environment and the workers that use them. These products do not compromise on performance, but provides added value and improved overall performance by taking advantage of the inherent benefits they have to offer including being biodegradable, less toxic, and renewable along with reducing our dependency on imported petroleum oils.
